One of House Haillenarte's prized engineers and machinists of the Skysteel Manufactory, Colette Ymir is experimenting with ways to make non-dragoons more mobile on the battlefield. She didn't always live in Ishgard. Nor did she always live in Coerthas, though it was where she spent most of her more recent years. Her family fled their home in the Skatay Mountains of Dalmasca shortly after Garlemald began their advance, taking up residence in the mountainous region of Western Coerthas, among the peoples of Falcon's Nest. For a good while, she was content with the quiet life of a humble huntress, living with her mothers within the town's bounds. Of course, that all changed when Ishgard reopened her gates with the end of the Dragonsong War. The city promised change, an education, and most importantly, a way to enjoy the forbidden fruit of her childhood with herself safely behind the pilot's seat - the Manufactory. It was taking up this job that also secured her a position within the ranks of Clan Centurio. As they did not maintain boards outside of the city, it would have been harder for her to claim a mark, but her accomplishments had been duly noted by members for quite some time before the opening of the gates. After a fateful night in which an infamous criminal made quite the lightshow in Ishgard, Colette was overcome with inspiration. She'd finally figured out a way to make something to help her take down a behemoth up close - and it required figuring out the contraption she caught a fleeting glimpse of on the man's back.During the Dragonsong War, she had begun crafting a personal grappling system, one lightweight and mobile enough to be worn on her body that would allow her to go toe-to-toe with dragons - something she could pitch to the Temple Knights to get a foot in the door. Unfortunately for her, she'd only just completed her first prototype before the war ended, and was forced to repurpose it for general-purpose monster hunting.Of course, her hard work wouldn't go unrewarded, either. Thanks to a chance meeting in the Forgotten Knight, she fell in contact with a leader of a commoners' union, and found herself among their ranks before long. She quite enjoyed the motley crew their leader had assembled, though whether it's because it reminded her of a home she lost forty winters ago or is entirely unrelated is a question that may go unanswered.Colette had, unfortunately, been forced to withdraw from the union she'd found, and for the time being, had returned the bulk of her focus to the Manufactory and her work there, much to her chagrin. At least, until she'd come across a flyer for the Helldivers. Seeing a reason to put her grappling system to good use, she decided to enlist.
Hooks
Experimental Engineer // Interested in testing her experimental mobility system? On a hike through Central Coerthas and hearing mechanical whirs in the canopy?
Must-See Marksman // Not many can compete with Joye. Colette certainly can, outmatched though she may be.
Sword for Hire // Need a covert escort through Coerthas? Or maybe another hand in that hunting crew? She's your gal.
Huntress // Whether it's with a flurry of arrows, a pair of blades, or a well-aimed round, Colette's always happy to lend a hand in the pursuit of a mark for her fellow clansmen and women.
Freebird // Looking for one of the few remaining falconers of Falcon's Nest? You've found her.
Note: If you are interested in testing, that'll likely be setup for a long-term arc.
Out of Character
Hey there, name's Lyon! I'm 21+, and my pronouns are he/they. I've been doing text-based roleplay on and off for the past seven or eight years, and roleplaying in FFXIV for about the past three. Single-paragraph style is a comfort zone for me, and trying to go longer than that tends to be a serious detriment to my turn speed. (For reference, my average in-game turn runs the gamut between one and three posts, typically no more than two.) I won't hold anything against you if all you can manage is a one-liner every now and then, though I ask that it's at least suitable enough to keep the scenario going.
I can't believe this has to be said, but I'm saying it now so it's not a problem later. Please do not stream or video record in-game roleplay with my character without my express permission. The whole practice makes me incredibly uncomfortable, and if I'm made aware that you're streaming or otherwise recording our interactions beyond screenshots or text logging, I will leave and you will be blacklisted.
I'm not my characters. Any romance between her and your character is to remain strictly in-character. Likewise, I'd prefer we keep any in-character aggression in-character.
If this is important to you at all, Colette is an alt. She's based on Mateus, but I'm willing to travel the data center. In need of more screencaps? Go check out Colette's Refsheet page in the footer below.
